Ed Hyman
EDWARD S. HYMAN Chairman and Founder of ISI

Edward S. Hyman is Chairman and Founder of ISI Group, LLC (broker dealer) and ISI Inc. (funds management). He heads both ISI’s Economic Research Team and ISI’s Management Committee and is a member of ISI’s Investment Policy Committee. Mr. Hyman has been ranked Institutional Investor #1 Wall Street economist for the past 35 years, and he was inducted into Institutional Investor’s inaugural 2011 All-America Research Team Hall of Fame.

Prior to forming both of these companies in 1991, he was Vice Chairman and a member of the Board of CJ Lawrence Inc., which he joined in 1972. He was an economic consultant at Data Resources, Inc. from 1969 to 1971. Mr. Hyman graduated from the University of Texas in 1967 with a BS in Engineering and received an MBA from MIT in 1969.

Mr. Hyman is currently a Board member of China Institute. He is a member of the Advisory Committee for The New York Public Library’s Financial Services Leadership Forum, as well as a member of Money Marketeers. He also serves on the Finance Committee of Bowdoin College.

Vinayak Singh
VINAYAK SINGH President of ISI Group

Vinayak Singh is President of ISI Group and a member of both ISI’s Management Committee and ISI’s Investment Policy Committee.

Prior to joining ISI in 1994, Vinayak was a Portfolio Manager for Republic Western Insurance Company. In 2000, Vinayak was appointed Head of Sales, in 2005 to Head of Sales and Trading, and in 2008 to President.

Vinayak graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1989 and received an MIM from the American Graduate School of International Management in 1991.

Krishna Guha
KRISHNA GUHA Vice Chairman, Head of Global Policy & Central Bank Strategy

Krishna Guha is Vice Chairman, a member of ISI’s Management Committee, and heads ISI’s Global Policy & Central Bank Strategy Research Team. ISI’s Washington office is ranked on the Institutional Investor’s All-Star Team for Washington research, which is based on a survey of money managers.

Prior to joining ISI in 2013, Mr. Guha served as Executive Vice-President, Member of the Management Committee and Head of the Communications Group at the New York Fed. Before joining the New York Fed, Mr. Guha was a senior writer on global economics and economic policy at the Financial Times, where he held a series of senior positions including US Economics Editor, Lex columnist and Editorial Leader Writer (member of the Editorial Board). Mr. Guha was awarded the Best in Business award by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers and the Excellence in Financial Journalism award by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants for his work on the financial crisis.

Mr. Guha was educated at Cambridge University, UK, and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and won the C.V. Starr award. Mr Guha has served as a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Advisory Council, a member of the EU-Japan Council and a fellow at Japan's Keizai Koho Center and Nihon Shinbun Kyokai. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Association. In 1993 he took part in a joint Anglo-Chinese expedition to cross the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang Province, China.

Bill Foley
BILL FOLEY Executive Managing Director, Head of Sales

Bill Foley is an Executive Managing Director, Head of Sales, and a member of both ISI’s Management Committee and ISI’s Investment Policy Committee.

Prior to joining ISI in 2010, Bill was Head of Global Capital Sales at Deutsche Bank, Head of Middle Market Sales at Morgan Stanley, and Head of Institutional Sales at Deutsche Bank. Prior to that, Bill worked with Ed at CJ Lawrence for 7 years, eventually becoming Head of Sales.

Bill graduated from Villanova University in 1976.

Anthony Rose
ANTHONY ROSE Senior Managing Director

Anthony Rose is a Senior Managing Director and a member of the Management Committee.

Prior to joining ISI in 2013, Anthony was Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Credit Suisse Equities Division and prior to that, senior financial officer in the IB CFO office. Prior to Credit Suisse, he was head of Capital Management within Global Treasury at JP Morgan Chase and held positions of increasing responsibility in Strategic Planning and Equity Research, also at JP Morgan Chase. In addition, Mr. Rose is an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School.

Anthony received a BS in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993, and an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2000.

Barney Hallingby
BARNEY HALLINGBY Executive Director

Barney Hallingby is a Consultant to ISI and a member of the Management Committee. Barney spent most of his business career at Hambrecht & Quist, where he headed the research, sales and trading departments. He was then was appointed Head Of Equities and Vice Chairman.

Prior to that, he was an institutional salesman at Wertheim and Paine Webber.

Barney graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Political Science in 1969, and received his MBA from Columbia Business School in 1972.

Glenn Schorr
GLENN SCHORR Senior Managing Director, Head of Financials Team

Glenn Schorr is a Managing Director and a Senior Research Analyst covering Brokers, Universal Banks, Asset Managers and Trust Banks. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Schorr was Senior Managing Director at Nomura Securities where he served as the lead Financials analyst. In addition, Mr.Schorr has held positions at UBS, Deutsche Bank, and M.D. Sass Investors. Mr. Schorr has covered the financial sector as a senior analyst since 2000 and has been named to Institutional Investor’s All America Research Team for Brokers, Asset Managers & Exchanges sector for the last 8 years.

Mr. Schorr graduated from Binghamton University in 1989 with a BS in Finance and is a CFA charterholder.

Brian Devlin
BRIAN DEVLIN Senior Managing Director, Head of Boston Sales

Brian Devlin is a Senior Managing Director, Head of Boston Sales and a member of ISI’s Management Committee.

Brian joined ISI in 2010 in Equity Research Sales and is the head of the Boston office with over 20 years of experience. Brian most recently worked at FTN Equity Capital Markets where he ran the Boston office. Brian also ran sales offices in Boston for Jefferies, Bank of America and prior to that, JPMorgan.

Brian graduated from Manhattanville College in 1986.

Dennis DeBusschere
DENNIS DEBUSSCHERE Portfolio Strategy

Dennis DeBusschere is a Senior Managing Director, a leader of ISI's Portfolio Strategy Research Team, as well as ISI's Investment Policy Committee. Though only covering Portfolio Strategy for the past two years, he was recently ranked fourth in Institutional Investor for Portfolio Strategy. Mr. DeBusschere has been key in developing our strategy efforts for the last six years with his daily piece, "Early Thought," which ties together major themes from our macro and fundamental research. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. DeBusschere worked in sales at Merrill Lynch.

Mr. DeBusschere graduated from University of Delaware in 1999 with a dual major in political science and economics.

Arndt Ellinghorst
ARNDT ELLINGHORST Global Automotive

Arndt Ellinghorst is a Senior Managing Director, Head of the Global Automotive Research, and runs our London office. With over 12 years’ experience covering the sector, Mr. Ellinghorst and his team have been consistently ranked top 3 in major investor surveys, and have earned a reputation for cutting edge, bottoms-up analysis and thought provoking, thematic research. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Ellinghorst was Managing Director at Credit Suisse where he served as Head of European Automotive Research. His other positions at Credit Suisse included Global Automotive Sector Coordinator, and Co-Head of EMEA Equity Research. While at Credit Suisse, his team was consistently ranked #1 or #2 in external and internal client surveys. Mr. Ellinghorst also spent time at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and WestLB Panmure, as well as working for Volkswagen and Audi.

Mr. Ellinghorst graduated in 1998 with a degree in Business Administration from University in Osnabrueck.

Stephen East
STEPHEN EAST Housing

Stephen East is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s Housing Research Team. Mr. East is currently ranked #1 in 2014's Institutional Investor rankings for Homebuilding & Building Products. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. East spent two years at Ticonderoga Securities as Managing Director and Director of Research, covering the Homebuilding and Building Products sectors. Additionally he spent five years at Pali Capital and Susquehanna Financial Group as the Homebuilding and Building Products analyst. Prior to that, he was a buy side analyst and DOR at Fiduciary Asset Management after spending ten years at A.G Edwards and six years at Monsanto.

Mr. East, a Chartered Financial Analyst, received an MBA from the University of Missouri and his BS in Finance from Arkansas State University.

Greg Gordon
GREG GORDON Power & Utilities Research

Greg Gordon is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Power & Utilities Research. Since 2004 Mr. Gordon has been ranked one of the top analysts in his field by both Institutional Investor magazine and Greenwich Associates, most recently ranking runner-up in the 2014 II rankings. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Gordon led the Power & Utilities research effort at Morgan Stanley after spending almost 7 years at Citigroup, also building their coverage of the Power & Utilities. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Gordon covered the power industry at Goldman Sachs and CIBC World Markets, Inc. Additionally, he worked at Regulatory Research Associates, where he analyzed regulatory issues and developments in the electric, gas, and telecommunications industries.

Mr. Gordon received his B.A. in Economics from Drew University. He is a CFA charterholder.

Krishna Guha

Dick Hokenson
DICK HOKENSON Global Demographics

Dick Hokenson is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s Global Demographics Research Team. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Hokenson founded Hokenson & Company in 2002, an independent consulting firm. Prior to that, Mr. Hokenson headed the Global Demographics Project at Credit Suisse First Boston. Before joining CSFB in the merger in 2001, Mr. Hokenson was the Chief Economist at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he pioneered the application of demographics to economic and financial markets.

Mr. Hokenson graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1967 with a BA in Economics and subsequently received an MA in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1973. He received his PhD research at New York University.

Vijay Jayant
VIJAY JAYANT Media Research

Vijay Jayant is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s Media/Entertainment and Cable/Satellite research team. Mr. Jayant has been an Institutional Investor ranked analyst for the past 12 years, was ranked #2 in the Cable & Satellite sector in 2009, and most recently ranking runner-up in 2014 II rankings. In 2013, he was ranked the #1 stock picker for the Media industry and within the top-10 across all industry categories according to FT|Starmine. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Jayant was an analyst at Citadel. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Jayant worked as a Senior Analyst and Sector Head for Media, Internet & Communications at Barclays and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Jayant was also employed by Morgan Stanley and Bear Stearns as a senior analyst.

Mr. Jayant graduated from Clark University in 1992 with a B.A. in Economics.

Greg Melich
GREG MELICH Consumer Research

Greg Melich is a Senior Managing Director, Head of ISI’s Consumer Research Team, and a Senior Equity Research Analyst covering Retail Hardlines & Broadlines and other industry related stocks. Mr. Melich was most recently ranked #1 in Institutional Investor for Retail Hardlines 2012-2014. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Melich spent 16 years at Morgan Stanley in consumer-related research, nine of which were as Managing Director. Over 7 years, he built Morgan Stanley's European auto research effort, and was ranked Institutional Investor #1 auto analyst for 3 of those years. He returned to the US in 2003 to head Morgan Stanley's Global Retail Research Team.

Mr. Melich graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1992 and is a CFA charterholder.

Ross Muken
ROSS MUKEN Healthcare Services & Technology

Ross Muken is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s Healthcare Services & Technology Research Team covering the Healthcare Technology & Distribution, Life Science Tools & Diagnostics, and Medical Supplies & Devices sub-sectors. Mr. Muken has been recognized by Institutional Investor, Greenwich Associates, Thomson Starmine, Forbes, and Bloomberg for his insightful fundamental research and highly accurate financial modeling. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Muken spent seven years at Deutsche Bank Securities, most recently as a Managing Director and head of the Healthcare Services & Technology research team. Prior to that, Mr. Muken spent three years at Thomas Weisel Partners. Mr. Muken began his career as a member of the Banc of America Securities Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

Mr. Muken graduated from Boston University in 2001 with a BS in Business Administration.

C.J. Muse
C.J. MUSE Semis Analyst

C.J. Muse is a Senior Managing Director and senior equity research analyst covering Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment at ISI. Mr. Muse has been an Institutional Investor ranked Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment analyst for the past 10 years. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Muse was a Managing Director and senior analyst at Barclays Capital where he followed the Semiconductor and Semiconductor Equipment sectors. Prior to joining Barclays in 2008, Mr. Muse was at Lehman Brothers where he began his career in equity research in December 2000. Prior to this, he spent three years in investment banking at Lehman Brothers.

Mr. Muse earned a B.S. in Finance from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.

Jaewoo Nakajima
JAEWOO NAKAJIMA Japan Research

Jaewoo Nakajima is a Senior Managing Director and leads ISI's Japan Research team. He is responsible for analyzing and estimating various US economic indicators as well as monitoring economic developments in Japan. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Nakajima spent 2 years in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Mr. Nakajima received an AB from Brown University in 2003 and received an MA from Columbia University in 2004.

Robert Ottenstein
ROBERT OTTENSTEIN Global Beverages

Robert Ottenstein is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s Global Beverages research team. Mr. Ottenstein was most recently ranked runner-up in Institutional Investor for Beverages. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Ottenstein headed investor relations for Anheuser-Busch InBev, shortly after InBev’s acquisition of Anheuser-Busch. Prior to joining AB-InBev, Mr. Ottenstein was Managing Director in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and for many years an II-ranked specialty chemical analyst as well as the global sector leader for the firm’s global basic materials.

Mr. Ottenstein graduated from Swarthmore, received his BA/MA in PPE at Oxford, and received his MBA from Stanford.

Pankaj Patel
PANKAJ PATEL Quantitative & Small Cap Research

Pankaj Patel is a Senior Managing Director, and Head of Quantitative & Small Cap Research. Mr. Patel has been named to Institutional Investor's All America Research Team each year since 2003. In addition to being ranked in Quantitative Research, he has also been ranked in Small Cap Strategy and Derivatives. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Patel was Global Head of Quantitative Research at Credit Suisse for 13 years. Before joining Credit Suisse he was a Portfolio Manager at Weiss Peck & Greer, for over 2 years, where he helped manage $1.5 billion using quantitative models. Prior to that role, he worked at General Electric for 7 years.

Mr. Patel, a Chartered Financial Analyst, received his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1990 and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Gujarat University, India in 1982.

David Raso
DAVID RASO Industrials Research

David Raso is a Senior Managing Director and a Senior Equity Research Analyst covering the Industrial Machinery sector. Prior to joining ISI, he spent 8 years at Citigroup as a Managing Director responsible for the research coverage of the Industrial Machinery sector. Mr. Raso has been Institutional Investor #1 Machinery Analyst for the past 14 years and was inducted intoInstitutional Investor’s inaugural 2011 All-America Research Team Hall of Fame.

Mr. Raso graduated from Wesleyan University in 1992 and received an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business in 1995.

Omar Saad
OMAR SAAD Luxury, Apparel & Footwear Research

Omar Saad is a Senior Managing Director and heads ISI’s Luxury, Apparel & Footwear team. Prior to joining ISI in 2011, Omar was a Director at Credit Suisse covering the sector for 6 years. Prior to Credit Suisse, Omar worked for 3 years as an Associate covering Consumer Discretionary stocks at Lehman Brothers. He is consistently rated as one of the top consumer analysts on Wall Street and has been voted the #1 Apparel & Footwear analyst by Institutional Investor magazine the last 3 years. Additionally, Institutional Investor has recognized him as one of the leading Specialty Retail analysts.

Omar graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1995 with a BBA in Accounting and holds a CPA certificate. Omar received his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2002.

Steve Sakwa
STEVE SAKWA Real Estate Research

Steve Sakwa is a Senior Managing Director and a Senior Equity Research Analyst covering REITs. Mr. Sakwa has been an Institutional Investor ranked REIT analyst for the past 11 years, and has been ranked #1 for 6 of the last 7 years. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Sakwa was Managing Director and lead equity research analyst at Merrill Lynch covering the US REIT sector as well as being global property coordinator which oversaw analysts in 10 different regions spanning more than 200 stocks. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Sakwa spent 2.5 years at Morgan Stanley where he was a Research Associate following the REIT sector. Mr. Sakwa began his career at the May Company and spent 2 years in their buyer training program.

Mr. Sakwa earned his MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University in 1993 and his BA in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1989.

Timm Schneider
TIMM SCHNEIDER Integrated Natural Gas & MLP

Timm Schneider is a Senior Managing Director responsible for covering the Integrated Natural Gas & MLP sectors. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Schneider spent six years at Citi Global Markets covering Natural Gas & Midstream names on a top-ranked Institutional Investor energy platform. Prior to his time at Citi, Mr. Schneider spent 2 years at Deutsche Bank researching Oilfield Services & Equipment stocks. Mr. Schneider was also employed by global Oilfield Services provider Halliburton, working both out of the Middle East and Houston, Texas.

Mr. Schneider graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2003 with a B.S. in Finance, and also earned a double minor in German and Economics.

Mark Schoenebaum
MARK SCHOENEBAUM Health Care Research

Mark Schoenebaum is a Senior Managing Director, Head of ISI’s Health Care Research Team, and is ISI’s Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals/Major Analyst. Prior to joining ISI, Dr. Schoenebaum was a Managing Director and Senior Biotechnology Analyst at Deutsche Bank. Prior to that, Dr. Schoenebaum held a similar position at Bear Stearns. He has been ranked Institutional Investor #1 Biotechnology analyst for the past 10 consecutive years and has been the #1 Pharmaceuticals analyst for 2 straight years (Mark first initiated on the Pharmaceuticals space 3 years ago). In 2013, Dr. Schoenebaum was inducted into Institutional Investor’s All-America Research Team Hall of Fame, an award given to analysts who have earned at least ten #1 rankings.

Dr. Schoenebaum graduated from Indiana University with highest distinction in 1996 with a BA and received an MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2000.

Stan Shipley
STAN SHIPLEY Fixed Income Strategy

Stan Shipley is a Senior Managing Director and Economist/Strategist at ISI. He is responsible for short-term economic estimates and analysis. Furthermore, interest rate and fx outlooks are his responsibility as well. Prior to joining ISI, he was a senior economist at Merrill Lynch. From 1983 to 1997, Mr. Shipley was a senior economist and equity strategist at Lehman. Prior to joining Lehman, he worked for the economic think tank, Chase Econometrics.

Mr. Shipley graduated from Michigan Technological University and is a member of the American Economic Association.

Oscar Sloterbeck
OSCAR SLOTERBECK Company Surveys

Oscar Sloterbeck is a Senior Managing Director and leads ISI’s Company Surveys Team. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Sloterbeck spent three years at JPMorgan Investment Management in the macroeconomics team.

Mr. Sloterbeck, a CFA charterholder, received his B.A. in 1997 from the College of William & Mary.

Donald Straszheim
DONALD STRASZHEIM China Research

Donald Straszheim is a Senior Managing Director and Head of ISI’s China Research Team. Mr. Straszheim has been a long-time macro economist on Wall Street, and a China specialist. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Straszheim served as Global Chief Economist at Merrill Lynch & Co where he was an Institutional Investor ranked economist for 10 consecutive years. He also was President of the Milken Institute, a not-for-profit think tank in Los Angeles and was Chief Economist at Wharton Econometrics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Mr. Straszheim also was Vice Chairman at Roth Capital Partners, Chief Economist of Weyerhaeuser Company and operated his own China-focused economic consultancy, Straszheim Global Advisors, for several years.

Mr. Straszheim received a BS, MS, and PhD from Purdue University and was a Senior Fellow at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management.

Doug Terreson
DOUG TERRESON Energy Research

Doug Terreson is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Energy Research. He covers the Integrated Oil and Refining & Marketing sectors, and Energy Commodities. Mr. Terreson has been ranked Institutional Investor’s #1 or #2 integrated oil analyst 14 times and has been a member of the All-America Research Team 18 times. Prior to joining ISI, he was a Managing Director and Head of Energy Research at Morgan Stanley. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Terreson spent several years on the buy-side, most recently at Putnam Investments in Boston, MA. Prior to entering the financial industry, Mr. Terreson was an engineer with Schlumberger Limited on the US Gulf Coast.

Mr. Terreson graduated from Mississippi State University in Petroleum Engineering and from Rollins College with an MBA.

JAMES WEST Oil Service, Equipment & Drilling Research

James West is a Senior Managing Director responsible for the research coverage of the Oil Services, Equipment and Drilling industry consisting of detailed fundamental research on over 50 companies. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. West was a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst at Barclays and Lehman Brothers for a combined 15 years. Since assuming lead coverage in 2011, Mr. West has been top ranked in Institutional Investor, including number three in 2011, number two in 2012 and number one in 2013 and 2014. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. West worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

Mr. West received his B.A. in Economics and a minor in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Bill Whyman
BILL WHYMAN Tech Strategy Research

Bill Whyman is Senior Managing Director and Head of Technology Strategy Research. He has been the top-ranked software analyst in the Institutional Investor Independent Research Team. Mr. Whyman is a nationally recognized expert on the intersection of technology and economics in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining ISI, Mr. Whyman was co-founder and President of Precursor Inc., where he led Precursor’s research team. Before Precursor, he was Internet Strategist at Legg Mason, and a consultant at McKinsey & Co. Mr. Whyman served at the White House as a Director to the National Economic Council and the National Security Council, advising then-NEC head Robert E. Rubin. He also held economic and technology policy positions in the Executive Office of the President, and the State Department in Washington and overseas.

Mr. Whyman completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and Oxford University, and holds an M.P.A. from Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School. He serves on the Board of Visitors at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Affairs.

David Zion
DAVID ZION Accounting & Tax Research

David Zion is a Senior Managing Director, and heads ISI’s Accounting & Tax Research Team. Mr. Zion has been named to Institutional Investor’s All America Research Team each year since 2003. Prior to joining ISI in 2013, Mr. Zion was at Credit Suisse heading up their Accounting & Tax research team. Before that he was at Bear Stearns and Deloitte & Touche. He is a CPA, CFA, a member of the CFA Institute, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dave graduated from Binghamton University in 1991 with a BS in Accounting.
